Our CEO is joined by Bestway Wholesale Managing Director Dawood Pervez to discuss WhatsApp, AI and more
Bestway Wholesale Managing Director Dawood Pervez joined b2b.store CEO Rob Mannion on the first episode of the The Federation of Wholesale Distributors new podcast – and it didn't make pretty listening for SMS users.
As part of the chat, Dawood explained why Bestway had gone big on WhatsApp messaging to retailers this year and compared the technology to SMS, which was once the bedrock of customer communication for many wholesalers. But as he pointed out, while business needs have developed, SMS capability hasn't.
"The actual creation of SMS is very archaic," he said. "For someone like us, we can cut our WhatsApp messages by customer type, location, serving depot or whatever we want."
Bestway were first to market with our B2B WhatsApp service earlier this year and as our CEO Rob spoke about later in the episode, they are benefiting from a number of benefits – ranging from segmentation to the ability to send multimedia messages, and a heightened commercial opportunity to offer suppliers. Most of all though, the read rates and engagement WhatsApp offers dwarves other communication methods.
You can listen to the full chat, which was hosted by FWD Chief Executive James Bielby, on FWD's WholeStory podcast.
